Greener Product LLC’s web based platform for LEED qualified products approves third party certifications (TPC)
CHARLESTON, SC – March 4, 2010 – Recently a BBMG Consumer report found that 77 percent of Americans agree they “can make a positive difference by purchasing products from socially or environmentally responsible companies and are actively seeking information to verify green claims”. The report further states that “consumers are most likely to turn to consumer reports (29%), certification seals or labels on products (28%) and the list of ingredients on products (27%) to determine if a product is green and does what it claims”.
According to Peter Rundle , Sustainability Manager, Greener Product LLC “ it is vital that architects and contractors are able to quickly and easily find sustainable and healthy building products that meet the sometimes complicated LEED rating system”. In many cases the LEED rating system requires that products have third party certifications (TPC) in order to meet these standards.
“We believe it is important that before any product is listed on the Greener Product web platform the respective environmental attributes have to be independently verified according to third party organizations or LEED supporting documentation. Furthermore it is essential that information is reliable, credibility and preferably based on testing results from internationally recognized certification organizations” concluded Rundle.
The Greener Product’s search tool, powered by the Greener Product proprietary software, is an online service that allows building product manufacturers to “tell their green story” directly to 100,000 LEED APs, 200,000 architects and 5,000 of the most influential architectural companies.
